H.P.FRANCE WINDOW GALLERY MARUNOUCHI will be holding a solo exhibition “Ground and Figure” by Saki Matsumura. Saki Matsumura uses a variety of techniques such as stencils and silk screens to build multi-layered screens. The title of this exhibition is taken from a book written by psychologist E.J. Rubin who advocated the “Rubin's Trap”, which is typical in Gestalt psychology. The concept described there is that humans cannot perceive anything that spreads uniformly in the field of view, but perceive shape only when there are two distinct areas.
